Unfortunately, no matter how good your moving company is, there is always a risk of your belongings being damaged during a move. It doesn’t happen on every move, but it does happen from time to time.

If you experience damage during your move, typically all it takes is a phone call to your movers to request compensation for the damage. At Heritage Moving & Storage, Inc., here’s how we handle damage:

If you have a piece of broken furniture, generally we try to do a repair. The repair is done by a qualified furniture repair person. Through the Movers Warehouse Association, we’re connected with a network of qualified people. Finding a qualified furniture repair person in your area is simple through this network.

First the repair person will come to your location and assess the damage. If it is determined that a repair is not possible, then the damage becomes an insurance claim based on the value of the item on the date of the damage. This value is determined by the insurance company’s amortization schedule. (You can look online for amortization schedules if you’d like an idea of an item’s value.)

Although we do everything we can to avoid damage, when damage does happen, we at Heritage Moving & Storage, Inc., take great pride in taking good care of our customers. We work hard to make sure great repairs are executed, hard-to-find replacements are located, and compensation is made in a timely manner. If you are looking for professional moving and storage company serving Roanoke, Vinton, Salem, Blacksburg, Smith Mountain Lake, Botetourt County, and all of Southwest Virginia, look no further than Heritage Moving & Storage, Inc.
